Since March 19, 1986 Andy’s Frozen Custard has served custard to americans all over the United States. In April 2019 Andy’s Frozen Custard opened up a new location in Glen Ellyn, Ill. Andy’s’ has locations in thirteen states and thirteen stores in Illinois alone. With rising popularity there are 3 new store opening up in the Chicagoland area. Andy’s Frozen Custard has a unique style of custard combinations.

Andy’s website writes, “Andy’s Frozen Custard is open all year! We generally operate from at least 11am-11pm, every day of every month. Sun, rain, sleet, or snow, it’s always a good time to enjoy Andy’s Frozen Custard. Our patios are heated for those winter months, well lit for those dark nights, and beautifully landscaped for any season.” With stores open year round and drive thru available Andy’s is different then other ice cream franchises. Other ice cream shops close early and are not open every day of the year. People who enjoy ice cream will experience something nobody has to offer in the area.

Unique concrete combinations are the staple to Andy’s success over the centuries. It all starts with the custard’s quality according to their website,“Andy’s number one focus is product quality. We use only the finest ingredients in our mix. The custard is always served within one hour after it is made.” I have had the special concrete mixers at Dairy Queen and it just isn’t the same as Andy’s. My favorite creation they offer is the James Brownie Funky Jackhammer; frozen custard blended with creamy peanut butter and brownies, then filled with hot fudge. If your not in the mood for such a crazy dessert they also offer sundes, shakes, and floats.

Andy’s service is just as top notch as the custard itself. Gary F. wrote on Yelp, “This place is soooo much better than Dairy Queen- it’s super clean, the employees are very polite and efficient & the quality of their ingredients is top notch. Prices are very fair. Goodbye DQ forever.” Most people my age don’t pay too much attention to the cleanliness of the store but it did catch my eye when I was at the new Naperville location last fall. In another yelp review from Shannon M., “ On a Friday night in the freezing cold there was still a line at the drive thru at nearly 9 pm! Also a staff member taking orders outside like Portillo’s.

Based on these features I think Andy’s is the premier ice cream location in the area and maybe in the country too. The flexible hours is a huge plus, especially in this area. I feel like anytime after 10 p.m. it’s hit or miss on weather a restaurant is open. Now I can count on having a place to grab ice cream on late nights. Quality and variety of the menu is a big deal too, customers can come in with specific sweets on their mind and get it. Lastly, customer service and cleanliness will always keep customers near. The food or ice cream can be great but doesn’t matter if you didn’t have a good time. At Andy’s I can assure you can expect all these things and nothing but the best.
