WHEATON-The Wheaton French Market, located at the corner of Liberty and Main Street, is a popular spot on Saturday mornings from April to November for many of Wheatons residents. The market is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday during the market season. It houses over ninety different types of vendors that sell food, art, clothing, jewelry and many more unique handmade items.

The Wheaton French Market has been around for almost twenty two years and is the oldest and largest french market in the state of Illinois. The market continues to be a very popular event that many Wheaton residents visit on a regular basis. “I love to see all of the products that are grown and produced locally by people in our community,” said Teresa Huelskoetter, a frequent market-goer.

The handmade products are one of the most effective draws for regular visitors. The market is home to a stand featuring glass products made by a Wheaton resident, who Huelskoetter affectionately referred to as “the glass lady.” Her products are consistently the highlight of Huelskoetter’s visits.
The City of Wheaton greatly benefits from having the french market in their downtown area, almost as much as the vendors do from setting up shop in the market. All of the markets vendors are small businesses that are able to sell more products to a wider array of people by displaying them at the market. By drawing people to the downtown area, the french market benefits other stores as well because people visit restaurants and permanent shops in the downtown area before or after walking through the french market. The unique products and food that can be found on Saturday mornings makes the Wheaton French Market a must visit for any Wheaton resident.
