On Saturday, Sep. 7 the Wheaton Warrenville South Tiger Marching Band will have their first annual Town Square Takeover from 11:30am to 2:30pm. This is one of their many fundraisers of the year but their first at Wheaton Town Square.
Last year the Tiger Marching Band raised over $7,000 so this year their goal is to raise $10,000. The fundraiser helps the marching band pay for bus fares, new equipment, new instruments, new props, and to pay the drill instructor so he can continue writing awesome shows for the marching band. The way the fundraiser works is you can either make a flat donation or pledge a certain amount of money per mile they march. Students will then march around the area and have standstill performances and march around and will also have enough time to thank each business for sponsoring them. Each student is required to raise $120 from family members and friends and whichever section raises the most money gets pizza for lunch during one of their rehearsals. You can also make a donation online where you can either pledge a certain amount of money per mile or just make a flat donation and which section or student you want to make it to. Students are also highly encouraged to go to a business and ask if they will be willing to make a donation and whether they want to make a flat donation or pledge per mile.
The Tiger Marching Band Parent Association is very excited to have another fundraiser this year and has put in so much time and effort. “Wheaton Town Square” has a variety of stores that the band members had asked for sponsorship from including “The Perfect Thing”, “302 South”, “Francescas”, “Nothing Bundt Cake”, “Red Mango”, “Talbots”, and much more. Come on out this Saturday to support your local marching band!
