The theme for Homecoming this year was Tiger Fever, and the vibes this year were certainly groovy. The Tigers kicked off Homecoming week with the annual Homecoming parade on Wednesday, September 11th at 6:30pm from Atten Park to the school Parking Lot. Representatives from nearly all of Wheaton Warrenville South’s clubs and activities paraded down Wiesbrook Road with their banners as they tossed candy to community members who came out to support.
On Friday, Sept. 13, Wheaton Warrenville South High School is hosting its annual Homecoming assembly in the orange and black gym, which will include various events and performers to build excitement for Homecoming. The assembly started off with performances from the cheerleading team, which was followed by additional performances from our dance team and K-pop group. But the assembly came to a peak when a former participant from America’s Got Talent entered the stage. Kevin Schiflett is a professional stuntman who balances various objects on his chin. He balanced everything from a bike to a 30 foot pole to a whole ladder on his chin. To end of the assembly, principal Campos entered the gym riding a motorcycle. The crowd went wild!
Later that night, the varsity football team played the Geneva Vikings. The energy in the stands was at an all time high. WWS varsity football fought hard, but the game ultimately resulted in a 31-45 loss. However, the Tigers bounced back the following week with a win over Glenbard North.
Homecoming week wrapped up on Saturday, September 14 with the school dance. The DJ this year really got the crowd going! So much so, that he was asked to by administration to play slower songs to break up all the mosh pits. Overall, the dance was an unforgettable ending to an amazing week!
