On Nov. 21, I interviewed Ellie Hay, founder and leader of the newly-created Film Club. Hay gave me the time to ask her questions about her club in the following interview.
To start out, I asked Hay to tell us what the club is about. “Film Club is a new club this year [where] students can come and learn about movies,” Hay responded. “If they have projects…we can give [them] resources.”
Film club offers members an array of opportunities to share their productions. “In April, there is a film festival called the MMEA…There’s also going to be a short video at the Variety Show that is going to be produced by people in the club. We are [also] submitting a project to the IHSA film competition.”
The club welcomes all experience levels and embraces all ideas. “With film, there is no wrong answer, so even if it doesn’t feel right, try it and don’t be afraid to…let others see your work. Everyone at Film Club is passionate about what they do, and we want each other to succeed. Just keep trying because that’s the best way to make something that you are proud of.”
